Samsung is rolling out the latest version of Android to its 2013 flagship device Galaxy S4 finally. The firmware update is region specific and already pushed out for various regions already.
So if you own a Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 and lucky enough to get the update, it’s time to root the device to get the maximum potential of the Android operating system. The following article will guide you to root the Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 running on the latest I9505XXUFNA1 firmware.
You might be already know that the rooting will void the device warranty and you may not receive the future OTA updates. - This method is only for the Samsung Galaxy S4 model number GT-I9505 running on I9505XXUFNA1 firmware. Doing it on any other device may give undesired result. You can check the device details from Settings -> About phone.
- Take a back of your stock ROM so that you can re-install it whenever you want.
- Charge your phone to a minimum of 70%-80% battery level.
- Download and install the USB drivers for the device from here. Else, installing the Samsung Kies will configure the drivers automatically.
- Enable the ‘USB debugging’ mode on your S4.
Root Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 Running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat
Step 1: First of all download the Chainfire Root Package and required SuperSU from this link. And then download Odin 3.07.
Step 2: Navigate to the folder where Odin is downloaded and then open the odin.exe file, run the file as an administrator.
Step 3: Switch of the smartphone and start it to ‘Download’ mode. You can boot to download mode by hold and pressing ‘Volume Down + Power’ buttons together and then follow the screen instructions.
Step 4: Connect the device to your PC, in some time the Odin will detect the device and will show the model number.
Step 5: Once the device is detected, click on PDA tab and then select the CF root package file you have downloaded earlier.
Step 6: Make sure only the ‘Auto Reboot’ and ‘F.Reset Time’ options are selected, nothing else.
Step 7: Click on ‘start’ button. The rooting process will start and the SuperSU binaries will be installed. Soon your device will be rebooted automatically, if not do it manually.
